Building Blackhand

This ecosystem, in the Museum district in Richmond Virginia, features a accessible ramp to a earth bag eco lounge.  Using reclaimed, local, earthen and regenerative building materials  this space was created to increase access and beauty for the local community and inspire innovative alternatives.

COSTA RICA TREE HOUSE

Built at a sustainable permaculture farm near the Panamanian coast, Punta Mona is only accessible by boat or trail. This enchanting eco-retreat was a fun build and a rewarding experience for us to capture the beauty above the canopy.

Kenya Outside Kitchen

This build started by using and existing pump room for a pool.  We decided that a farm to table outside kitchen made more sense. This construction used ferrocement and traditional building techniques. Complete with downstairs storage and a large cistern for water catchment.

TREEHOUSE – HAUSER LAKE, ID

This off-grid build incorporated both a water and solar system. Our design employs a full construction, allowing the clients to enjoy the outdoors during all seasons.

TREEHOUSE – GOOCHLAND, VA

We used a board and batten construction on this elevated treehouse. The clients enjoy an outdoor shower, and a rain garden will preserve the health of the tree.

One of our unique services is education on green building techniques. Our clients learn the immense value of sustainable building practices, and become empowered to create these ecosystems for themselves.

TREE WELL CHALLENGE

Richmond, Virginia began a city beautification project in preparation for the 2015 UCI Cycling Championships. We designed an ecosystem involving a rain garden for Richmond’s Carytown District. Our design and installation won the Most Sustainable Award, which we accepted from First Lady Dorothy McCauliffe, wife of then-Governor Terry McCauliffe.
